Juhi Chatterji: A New Chapter in Acting, Fashion & Self-Discovery

For readers meeting you for the first time, how would you introduce yourself beyond your work as an actor and model?

I would say I’m a simple person who loves exploring new things and learning from every experience. Apart from acting and modelling, I enjoy meeting new people, trying different things and just growing with every phase of life.

What first inspired you to step into the world of acting, fashion, and modelling?

I was always interested in fashion and being in front of the camera. Slowly, I started exploring modelling and acting and realised that I really enjoyed it. I like the creative side of this industry and the fact that every project gives you a chance to do something different.

How would you describe your journey so far, and what has been the most transformative chapter of your career?

My journey has had a lot of ups and downs, but every phase has taught me something. I took a break from the industry for almost three years because of some personal reasons. Coming back after that break was a big thing for me. It gave me a fresh perspective and made me realise how much I actually enjoy being a part of this industry.

And honestly, I’m really happy to be featured in HP Magazine India and get the chance to share my journey with everyone. It feels good to be back and to see new opportunities coming my way.

You’ve explored different facets of the fashion and entertainment industry. Which side of your personality do you feel most connected to?

I think I connect more with the creative side. I enjoy exploring different looks, expressions and characters. At the same time, I also like being myself in front of the camera, which is why I feel something like reality shows would also be interesting for me to explore someday.

What does glamour mean to you beyond appearance, and how do you define your personal style?

For me, glamour is more about confidence and how you carry yourself. You don’t always need to be dressed up to feel glamorous. If you feel confident and comfortable in your own skin, that shows naturally.

My personal style is quite simple, but I love experimenting with different looks depending on my mood and the occasion.

Is there a particular role, project, or creative experience that challenged you and helped you grow as an artist?

Honestly, I think coming back to the industry after a three-year break was challenging in itself. Starting again and getting back into the creative space took time. There were moments when I had to push myself and believe in the process, but it helped me grow and become more confident.

How do you maintain your confidence and individuality in an industry where trends and expectations constantly change?

I try not to compare myself too much with others. Everyone has their own journey and their own timing. Trends keep changing, but I think it’s important to know what works for you and be comfortable with who you are. I just focus on improving myself and doing things that feel right for me.

What’s one misconception people often have about models and actors that you’d love to change?

I think people often feel that modelling and acting are easy because they only see the final result. But there is a lot of hard work, preparation, rejection and patience behind it. There’s much more happening behind the scenes than what people actually get to see.

Looking ahead, what kind of projects or opportunities are you eager to embrace next?

I’m looking forward to working on good projects where I can learn and explore something different. I’m open to acting projects, fashion campaigns and interesting collaborations. I would also love to explore reality shows someday because I feel it would give people a chance to see the real side of my personality, beyond just modelling or acting.

If you could give one piece of advice to the younger version of yourself who was just beginning this journey, what would you say?

I would tell myself not to overthink everything and just trust the process. Things might not always go as planned, and that’s okay. Take your time, learn from every experience and keep moving forward. Sometimes taking a break is also part of the journey, and it doesn’t mean you’ve stopped.
